History - Team Von Wittenberge - Our Facility

History

Our kennel name carries a very high profile and legacy of historical magnitude.  The name is in reference to the hometown of my wife Sabine’s family. Wittenberge is a town of thirty thousand people on the lower Elbe in the district of Prignitz, Brandenburg, Germany. This site was marked out in 1239 and for centuries had been a conservative and traditionalist town.  Well known as top German Shepherd breeders since the first decade of the past century, this area produced dogs of world class relevance and importance for the evolution of the breed, such as Boris vom Wittenberge, 1920; Ilse vom Wittenberge, 1926; Lord vom Wittenberge, 1929, and many other dogs who contributed to improve the breed and are direct ancestors of many VA dogs.

Our kennel name was registered in 1985 in the books of APPPA (Asociacion Peruana de Criadores de Perros Pastores Alemanes).  Peru carries one of the greatest breeding programs in the continent and world wide as demonstrated by these results: VA5 in Germany, Anta von Ben Harten (by Gorbi v. b. Harten and Rima v. b. Harten); V5 in 2006, Germany, Sieger Schau Quanta v. b. Harten; Quantum, her brother, in my opinion, is one of the best sons of Bax.  Other top breeders and kennels from Peru are von Siegerhaus, de Maloso, vom Krieghaus, and von der Vildel, all of which also achieved important international results.

Today, now proudly in the USA, we continue representing this name. Some of our outstanding quality dogs in the USA were Farah von Wittenberge, a spitze bitch and regional champion in 1994; Moritz von Wittenberge top results in youth and adult classes; Winnie von Wittenberge; Wodka von Wittenberge; Hannia von Wittenberge, amongst others.

Our present new generation of young dogs Wodka, Iris, Janka, Jetta, Kora, and Lambada, are representative of the Canto, Quanto, Mutz, lines; and with the adequate combination of phenotype and genotype we are sure that results will confirm the theory.
